Gillibrand Pledges Budget Amendment To Block Funding For DADT Enforcement

At the Human Rights Campaign's $400/plate black tie gala at NYC's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, last night Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced that she would be submitting an amendment to the federal budget that would block the use of funds to enforce DADT. Gillibrand, the evening's keynote speaker, also praised Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Admiral Mike Mullen for last week's declaration of support for the repeal of DADT. She went on to express her support for a trans-inclusive ENDA and for the repeal of DOMA, generating extended applause from the tony audience. Gillibrand was not made available to us for follow-up questions. I'll post more of my coverage of the event later today, including lots of photos.
