NEW YORK CITY: Police Make Arrest In Strangling Murder Of Queens Gay Man

The NYPD has made an arrest in the murder of Queens school teacher David Rangel, who was found strangled in his home in January.
Cecil Golden, 20, was charged Tuesday with the murder of David Rangel, 53 — who was found choked to death in his Jackson Heights apartment on Jan. 27, the sources said. Investigators initially suspected that Rangel — who often dated men he met online — may have encountered his killer on the Internet. But sources said the two men already knew each other before the murder. A law enforcement source said that Golden confessed to killing Rangel while robbing his 91st St. home. Another source said that Golden was still carrying Rangel’s cell phone.
